The upside of trying to run a blog off your own server is that you have lots of control over how everything works.

The downside of trying to run a blog off your own server is that you have to control how everything works. If your machine goes down and you can't replace it for months, so be it. If your new machine isn't running mod_perl out of the box, so be it.

But there's always the old Blogger site I set up last summer.
